Stone Journeys draws upon the experience of the west coast shoreline. Removing a horizon line that makes a picture into a landscape, I have chosen instead to concentrate on looking straight down. Through the many forms that present themselves amongst the stones I have explored connections and relationships and what it takes to balance a composition. I want to evoke a sense of movement amongst the stones and choice for the viewer. What makes us reach down and pick up a particular stone or follow a sand rhythm or line amongst the stones?

The raw forces of nature have connections with and similarities to our emotions. These paintings encourage the viewer to reach a plateau of contemplation with an invitation to stay awhile.
